JJ
AGUILERA

JJ Aguilera was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and graduated from Northwest Career and Technical Academy in 2020 where she studied Video Production and began training in dance.

She continued to pursue dance and production at UNLV and graduated in 2024 with her BFA in Dance Production. During her time at UNLV, she was trained in ballet, jazz, and modern dance along with choreography.  Some specific techniques that she learned were Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Limon, and Erick Hawkins. She began taking class at the Alvin Ailey school. In production, JJ learned the basics of dance/theater production including set design, costume design, business of dance, stage management and electricity. Her main study was lighting design. In total, JJ choreographed 2 BFA pieces and designed 4 BFA pieces. During her time at UNLV, JJ discovered she enjoys the choreographic style of contemporary ballet.

JJ has now been a lighting designer for Railhead venue at Boulder Station in Las Vegas and Perry-Mansfield in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she designed 2 dance pieces and her first theater piece. She has also worked with BODYTRAFFIC, a LA based dance company and taken a masterclass from them. She hopes to pursue choreography on film and continue to have opportunities to design, as she has had many production experiences.
